Awards

In order to stimulate the search for scientific quality and excellence, the XVIII SBSR will award papers in the following categories: (1) best scientific initiation paper (2) best posters and (3) best papers in oral presentation.

1. the two best works in the category Articles of Scientific Initiation;
2. the top six papers presented at the Poster Session; and
3. the three best works in the category Articles in Oral Presentation.

The best Scientific Initiation paper award will be given during the "Opening Session of the XVIII SBSR", May 28th, 2017 (Sunday) at 7:30pm.

The award of best Posters and best oral presentation papers will happen during the "Symposium Closing Session", May 31st, 2017 (Wednesday) at 7:00 pm.

The presence of the author or coauthor of the winning works is mandatory at the Symposium Closing Session. In his/her absence the work will be disqualified.

Criteria for the award category: Articles of Scientific Initiation Awards

The best two papers in the category Articles of Scientific Initiation will be chosen by members of the Scientific Technical Committee responsible for the review and approval of all papers submitted to the XVIII SBSR.

The Evaluation Committee will consider the relevance of the paper for the knowledge area, the scientific quality of the study conducted, clarity and the quality of the text presented.

The Award will be delivered to the first author or a coauthor of the paper in the "Opening Session of the XVIII SBSR", on May 28th, 2017 (Sunday) at 7:30 pm.

The author or coauthor of the winning paper must be present during this ceremony to receive the awards. In the absence of both, the paper will be disqualified.

Criteria for the award category: Visual Communication Posters

The poster for the presentation of the paper will have approximately 0.90m width times 1,20m height.

Three Award Committees will be established. Each committee will select the best two works of a Panel Session, i.e. two papers will be chosen per day. At the end of the event six (06) Posters will be awarded.

The members of the Award Committee, when visiting the posters, will not identify themselves.

The Award will be delivered to the presenter of the work at the Closing Session of the event, in the Auditorium, on May 31st, 2017, Wednesday, 7:00 pm.

In the absence of the presenter, the award may be received by one of the co-authors during the Closing Session. In case no author is present, the paper is disqualified.

For the choice of the six (06) best posters in the category Visual Communication, the following criteria will be considered:

1. Poster Identification - Name of the paper, the authors and e-mail for contact should be visible.
2. Clarity of the poster - Its objectives, methodology and results of the study should be clear.
3. Visual quality of the poster - The creativity and harmony in the poster, and ease of learning its content will be considered.
4. Presence of author or co-author - In the period from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm will be considered.
5. Posture of presenter - fluency of knowledge and exposition of paper will be considered.

Criteria for the award category: Articles of Oral Sessions

The best three papers in the category Articles of Oral Presentation will be chosen by members of the Scientific Technical Committee responsible for the review and approval of all papers submitted to the XVIII SBSR.

The Evaluation Committee will take into account the importance and originality of the subject, the scientific rigor and data quality, the relevance of the paper for the area of knowledge, the clarity and quality of the text presented.

The Award will be delivered to the first author or co-author of the paper in the Closing Session of the Symposium, May 31st, 2017 (Wednesday) at 7:00 pm.

All winning authors or co-authors will receive the awards during this ceremony. In their absence the paper will be disqualified.
